敷地は熱海湾を一望する高台の急傾斜地に位置する。良好な眺望を得るため、リビングルームを地上4階程度の高い位置に設ける必要があったが、建物全体として大きな床面積は必要ない。結果、塔状の住居となった。地盤および敷地条件から基礎の選択肢は非常に限られており、構造設計の労力の多くが基礎設計に費やされた。最終的に、地震による転倒に抵抗するための十分な根入れを持つ直接基礎が採用された。
The site is located on a steep slope on a hill overlooking Atami Bay. In order to obtain a good view, the living room had to be located at a height of about 4 stories above the ground, but the entire building does not require a large floor area. As a result, it became a tower house.

The choice of foundation was very limited due to the conditions of the geology and the site. And so, much of our effort was spent on the design of foundation. Eventually, a spread foundation with sufficient embedding to resist the overturning moment due to the earthquake was adopted.
