戦後から大阪市西成区の地に継承されてきた寺院・庫裡の更新計画である。大きな桜の木のある中庭を中心に残し、既存庫裏の減築と新しい庫裏の増築を行った。増築部は親世帯（木造平屋）と子世帯（木造３階建て）の２棟である。
The renovation preserved the central courtyard with its large cherry tree, while partially demolishing the existing kuri and constructing new additions. The new construction consists of two buildings: a single-story wood-frame building for the parent generation and a three-story wood-frame building for the child generation.
親世帯・子世帯の双方から中庭への視線を通す一方、両世帯間の視線は遮り互いのプライバシーを確保する。そのための視線制御装置であるルーバーを、水平力を負担する扁平柱として利用することで室内の耐力壁を減らし、フレキシビリティと高い耐震性能（耐震等級2）を両立した。
While both the parent and child households have sightlines opening onto the courtyard, views between the two households are blocked, securing privacy for each. The louvers that serve as this sightline-control device are utilized as flat rigid frames (rahmen) that resist horizontal forces, reducing the number of shear walls and achieving both flexibility and high seismic performance.
建築物の耐火要件に加え、扁平柱の機能性・意匠性を考慮し、LVLによる薄板合わせ柱式ラーメン構造を考案した。建物内外に連続して一間ピッチで配置されるラーメンフレームは、階数も屋根形状も異なる親世帯と子世帯に構法としての統一性を与え、一つの建築としてまとめる役割も果たしている。
In addition to the building’s fire-resistance requirements, the rigid frame was designed with consideration for the functional and aesthetic qualities of flat columns: a pair of flat columns (45mm × 360mm, Japanese larch structural LVL) sandwiches the beam (120mm × 360mm, structural glued laminated timber). The rigid frames, arranged continuously at 1.82m intervals both inside and outside the building, unify the parent and child households—which differ in both number of stories and roof form—giving the building a sense of coherence as a single work of architecture.
