東白川郡森林組合事務所（木造在来軸組工法・2階建て）では，1階の事務所スペースと2階の大会議室を開放的でフレキシブルな無柱空間とするため，スパン10.92mの棟梁を木造平行弦トラスでつくり，さらにそこから2階床の一部を吊るという構造方法を採用しました。また，切妻屋根の小屋組みは，室内のロングスパン部分に240mmせいのLVL（単板積層材），軒部分に120mmせいの製材，軒とケラバが連続し２方向の面外曲げを受ける出隅部分に120mm厚のCLT（直交集成板）と『適材適所』に用いることで，躯体コストを抑えながら軽快な軒回りのデザインを実現しています。

Office in Higashi-shirakawa is a two-story timber framework construction. “Ridge truss” which spans 10,92 m along the ridge of the building, and partial suspended floor realize the open and flexible office (on the 1st floor) and conference room (on the 2nd floor).
The structure of the gable roof consist of:

1. Rafters of LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber, 240mm depth) for the long-span above the office.
2. Rafters of solid wood (120mm depth) for the eaves.
3. CLT (Cross Laminated Timber, 120mm thickness) for the corners under bending stress in two directions.

“The right material at the right place”, as described above, contributes to the sharp appearence around the eaves while reducing the construction cost.
